Frequently Asked Questions

Vagina Tightening

What is Vaginal Tightening Surgery?

Vaginal tightening surgery, also known as “vaginoplasty”, means surgical vaginal tightening operation. It is the 2nd most common surgery after labiaplasty in genital aesthetic surgeries. Vaginal tightening surgery is a reconstructive surgery and should be performed by gynecologists.

Why Does the Vagina Expand?

The vagina is a transfer organ. It is a channel for sexual intercourse and childbirth. This tubular structure is made up of dense connective tissue and muscle tissue. As in the whole body, the main component of this connective tissue in the vagina is collagen. Of course, with age and traumatic events, this collagen decreases and the vagina expands and sags. The vagina enlarges due to the following reasons;

  • Genetic factors, weak collagen structure
  • Advancing age
  • Previous vaginal deliveries,
  • Pregnancy and hormonal changes,
  • Abortion and similar gynecological interventions
  • Smoking, poor diet
  • Early sexual life and frequency of sexual intercourse

What Problems Does Vaginal Enlargement Cause?

Vaginal enlargement affects sexual life most negatively. In particular, the vagina, which stretches and loses its grip, cannot feel the penis and intercourse cannot be completed in a pleasurable way for both parties. The main complaint of many women is that their sex life is never the same again, especially after vaginal delivery.

In addition, complaints such as gas leakage from the vagina (vaginal flatus), noise during intercourse, excessive vaginal discharge, urinary incontinence during intercourse result in loss of sexual self-confidence and sexual reluctance.

Vaginal enlargement leads to the need for vaginoplasty by causing conditions such as frequent vaginal infections, urinary and fecal incontinence, vaginal gas incontinence during sports.

Is Vagina Rejuvenated? (Vaginal Rejuvenation)

Vaginal rejuvenation is a term that covers a series of procedures to restore the vagina, which has lost its health over time, has become loose or narrowed. Rejuvenation of the vagina is performed not only because of loosening and stretching, but also because the vagina loses its elastic and patent leather structure due to hormonal changes that occur especially during menopause.

All procedures performed to restore the healthy structure of the vagina can also be called ‘vaginal rejuvenation’ or ‘vaginal renewal’ applications.

Vaginal rejuvenation applications can be performed surgically or with laser.

Surgical vaginal tightening (vaginoplasty) or laser vaginal rejuvenation (LVR) are often used to achieve a healthy vagina. Surgical vaginal tightening provides a permanent and desired vaginal stenosis.

In laser vaginal rejuvenation, the thermal (heat) effect of the laser is utilized. This effect leads to a narrowing of the vagina, increased blood supply and therefore sensitivity, as well as tissue regeneration. This procedure is not permanent and requires repeated sessions.

What is Vaginoplasty?

Vaginoplasty is a surgery performed by gynecologists and obstetricians, also known medically as “colporaphy posterior” (posterior repair) surgery. The aim is to reshape the vagina and restore its former tightness.

In vaginoplasty, that is, vaginal tightening surgeries, tissue is removed with a triangular incision made along the entire canal from the entrance of the vagina to the cervix, and then narrowing is created with transverse stitches. Thus, the back wall of the vagina is completely narrowed from the entrance. In some cases, if there is also separation of the muscles, the pelvic muscles are also brought closer together.

What is the Vaginoplasty Process?

Vaginoplasty is an operation performed under general, local or spinal anesthesia in about 1 hour. Hospitalization is usually not required. Perineoplasty, i.e. the correction of birth suture scars, is often performed together with vaginoplasty. There is a ban on sexual intercourse for 45 days after these operations. Return to daily life is available in 3 days.

What is Recommended After Vaginoplasty?

Vaginoplasty is a procedure performed under anesthesia and operating room conditions. Mild pain and bleeding can be expected in the postoperative period. Especially in patients undergoing pelvic muscle repair, there may be pain in the anus. These conditions are minimized with regular use of recommended medications, dressing and ice application. Tissue healing will be at its best with regular nutrition, non-smoking, plenty of water intake and rest.

The postoperative prohibitions are heavy exercise, pool and sea use for the first 1 month. Postoperative sexual intercourse is recommended after 6 weeks.

What to Expect from Vaginoplasty?

In women, the clitoris is the source of sexual pleasure. With vaginal intercourse, this pleasure is triggered by the friction of the penis against the imaginary ‘G-spot’ on the anterior wall of the vagina, which is the projection of the clitoris, and women reach orgasm. Men also feel pleasure when the penis is grasped and squeezed by the vagina. It is essential that the vagina is tight and young for this expected sexual intercourse in which both parties get pleasure and enjoyment. After vaginoplasty, all these expectations are met.

Where Should Vaginal Tightening Surgery Be Performed?

It is very important to determine the right address for vaginal tightening surgery. Both surgical experience with vaginoplasty and a healthy orientation of sexual life can lead to the desired happy ending in vaginoplasty. Sometimes, the desired success in intercourse cannot be achieved with advanced elevation of the vagina or perineal entrance part, which cannot be narrowed sufficiently, and correction (revision) surgeries are required. Therefore, it is important to plan well before surgery.

As in all plastic surgeries, the surgeon’s knowledge and experience is the most important factor for vaginal tightening surgeries.

Who Performs Vaginoplasty?

The answer to the question of who performs vaginoplasty surgery is not very difficult. Performing these surgeries by an experienced gynecologist who is familiar with both the anatomy of the region and the physiology of this region gives extremely satisfactory results.

Which Procedures Can Be Performed Simultaneously With Vaginoplasty?

Perineoplasty is usually performed simultaneously with vaginoplasty. In addition, labiaplasty, labia majora filling applications and genital PRP procedures can be added according to the needs and wishes of the patients.

In some cases, vaginal enlargement is accompanied by a prolapsed bladder. In this case, cystocele, that is, urinary bladder recovery surgery should also be performed. Incontinence surgeries can also be added.

Injections with regenerative effect can also be performed at the same time with all these procedures for vaginal rejuvenation. Taking the person’s own blood, centrifuging it and injecting the resulting plasma back into the person’s own tissues is called ‘PRP’. And genital PRP applications provide healing and rejuvenation in the tissue.

How Are Vaginoplasty Prices?

Vaginoplasty prices are determined after a detailed examination of the patient. The type of anesthesia varies depending on the additional operations and procedures to be performed.
