Frequently Asked Questions
Mons Pubis Aesthetics
Where is Mons Pubis?
The Mons Pubis is also called the ‘Mons veneris’ or ‘Mound of Venus’. It is the triangle-shaped area called the bikini area among women.
Anatomical description of the mons pubis; It is the triangle-shaped part located in the anterior part of the pubic bone. It is the area starting from the lower abdomen and continuing with the labia majora, covered with hairy skin and fatty tissue underneath.
How Does Mons Pubis Change Shape?
The mons pubis consists of two basic tissues. The fat and hairy skin changes over time. The adipose tissue covering the base of the mons pubis increases with puberty and weight gain and decreases during menopause. The hair on it also decreases with menopause. Especially after bariatric surgeries and abdominoplasty (tummy tuck), which have been frequently performed in recent years, mons pubis aesthetics are also required.
How is Mons Pubis Aesthetics Performed?
Excess fat tissue accumulated in the mons pubis can cause complaints in women. With the operation called ‘Mons pubis reduction’, excess fat tissue is removed with classical manual liposuction or energy-based liposuction methods.
In some cases, only fat removal is not enough and some tissue is also removed. This procedure can also be called mini-abdominoplasty. In these patients, both scar tissue and excess tissue can be removed in the form of wedge excision with ‘mini-abdominoplasty’ surgical procedures. In some patients, the mons pubis can also be thinned during abdominoplasty operations.
Mons pubis reduction is also known as ‘Monsplasty operation’.
Is Monsplasty Surgery Risky?
As with any surgery, risks such as pain, bleeding and infection can also be seen in monsplasty. In addition, excessive stretching of the mons pubis with surgical incisions and sutures can cause upward displacement of the labia majora, labia minora and clitoris. These and similar conditions may also create undesirable conditions after tummy tuck surgeries.
How to do Mons Reduction?
Mons hypertrophy can be corrected by the removal of excess adipose tissue, mostly with classical manual lipoaspiration or energy-based liposuction. The procedure is usually performed under local anesthesia by inserting a cannula through millimetric incisions made on both sides of the mons pubis. Usually 80-200cc of fat can be aspirated from the mons region. In some cases, the fat tissue removed by mons reduction can be used in other areas. This fat can be applied to large lips that have lost volume, scars or the anterior vaginal wall for sexual pleasure treatment. If the adipose tissue is mixed with PRP and given to the needed areas, the permanence of the fat can also increase.
Expectations After Mons Pubis Aesthetics
Hospitalization is usually not required after mons pubis aesthetics. A tight dressing is applied to the fat removal area and it should remain for 48 hours. It is also recommended to use painkillers and antibiotics. Minimal bleeding and bruising at the monsplasty site can be expected in the first day.
Mons Pubis Aesthetics Prices
The prices of mons pubis aesthetics for mons pubis hypertrophy may vary depending on the location of the surgery, the type of anesthesia and the duration of the procedure. Preoperative evaluation is recommended.
