Frequently Asked Questions
Labioplasty
What is Labiaplasty?
Labiaplasty surgery; It is the shortening and reduction of the sagging, long, irregular and darkened inner lips (labia minora) by cutting them. This condition, which is mostly congenital, can increase during puberty, childbirth or hormonal changes and can disturb women both physically and psychologically.
Labiaplasty surgery, which ranks first among genital aesthetic surgeries, is performed by experienced physicians in many countries, especially in the USA and European countries, for both functional and cosmetic reasons as modern gynecological aesthetic operations.
The number of labiaplasty surgeries is increasing worldwide.
What is Labiaplasty?
Labiaplasty is a genital plastic surgery performed to give a flat and aesthetic appearance to the inner lips called “labium” in simple terms.
Labiaplasty, the surgery to shorten and reduce the labia minora, is also called “labia minora aesthetics”, “labia minoraplasty” or “labia minora reduction”.
What is Female Genital Anatomy?
The external genital organs in women include the mons pubis (pubic mound), labium majus (labia majora), labium minus (labia minora), clitoris and vestibulum.
The small lips on the inner part of the external genital area are called “labium minus” (inner lip), while the large lips on the outer part, which are slightly raised in the form of a bump, are called “labium majus” (outer lip). The inner labia are hairless, while the outer labia are covered with genital hair.
The mons pubis is the fatty, hairy area above the pubic bone. In general, the hairless, pink, stimulable structure inside the labia majora is the inner labia.
The clitoris is a female pleasure organ consisting of 3 ‘Y’ shaped parts at the upper junction of the labia minora and can be stimulated (erogenous). The equivalent of the penis in men is the clitoris in women.
What Does Inner Lip Prolapse Mean?
The elongation, sagging, thickening or irregularization of the inner labia in the female external genitalia is known as “labial hypertrophy”. This condition is also known as ‘inner lip prolapse’, ‘vaginal tongue prolapse’, ‘tongue prolapse’. Most women have both labial hypertrophy (sagging) and labial asymmetry (irregularity).
Why is a Laparoplasty Necessary?
Labiaplasty is often necessary because of labial hypertrophy. The most common reason for surgery is that this inner lip sagging causes both physical and psychological complaints in women. In addition, loss of self-confidence in sexuality, lack of pleasure or inability to establish a partner relationship are among the most common reasons for our referrals.
The sagging, wrinkled, dark-colored and asymmetrical appearance of the inner lips causes many aesthetic as well as functional problems in women. For these reasons, labiaplasty has positive psychological, cosmetic, hygienic, sexual and functional effects.
What is aesthetic surgery?
The clitoris area is the area where both inner lips meet at the top. Along with labial hypertrophy, the clitoral hood area is usually covered with a large and sagging skin. It is possible to achieve ideal results with ‘clitoral hudoplasty’ performed simultaneously with labiaplasty.
In addition, after the excess skin on the clitoris is removed, an increase in sexual pleasure can also be realized. Clitoral hudoplasty is a specialized surgery due to its anatomical location and function and should be performed by experienced hands. Otherwise, undesirable consequences may occur.
Who should undergo a laparoplasty?
People with inner lip hypertrophy usually have several of the following problems and surgery is recommended. These problems
- Lack of self-confidence, lack of self-esteem
- Pain during sexual intercourse, pain and inability to have intercourse
- Not getting pleasure during sexual intercourse (especially if the clitoris is covered with too much skin)
- Persistent external genital irritation and sensitivity
- Recurrent vaginal infection
- Vaginal odor and hygiene problems
- Friction and pain when wearing tight pants, underwear
- Excessive appearance of the genital area when wearing tights and bikini
- Problems finding a partner, relationship problems
Is Labıoplasty Also Performed on Copperheads?
Labiaplasty surgery can be performed on virgins. Surgery on the outer labia minora does not damage the inner hymen. In the following period, it is not an obstacle neither to have sexual intercourse nor to conceive and give birth normally.
How is a Laparoplasty Performed?
Labiaplasty is an operation to aesthetically correct the inner labia by cutting them. It can be performed under local anesthesia, general anesthesia or spinal anesthesia in the hospital or in a suitable clinic setting. This operation, which takes approximately 1 hour, is preferred by patients especially because it can be performed as a daily intervention in a clinic environment under local anesthesia.
Who Performs Labiaplasty?
In order to avoid problems after labiaplasty surgery and to avoid the need for a revision surgery, the physician who will perform this surgery must be knowledgeable and experienced in this field.
In addition, ACOG (American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology) published a new bulletin on elective female genital cosmetic surgery in January 2020. In this bulletin, it is emphasized that sexual dysfunctions (problems) can be corrected with genital surgeries, but the importance of the physician who will perform the operation to be educated about sexual dysfunctions and psychiatric disorders is emphasized.
What is the Most Successful Surgical Technique in Laparoplasty?
Many surgical techniques have been described in labiaplasty. However, the most commonly used and successful surgical techniques are partial resection (trimming) and V-plasty. Of course, it should be kept in mind that the most successful technique will be chosen according to the examination findings.
How Did Big Lip Fillers Become Popular With Lipoplasty?
After labiaplasty, large lip fat fillers have become popular with the desire to look just a line in the middle in the external genital area. These operations, first carried out in California, spread rapidly around the world. The aim is for the inner lips to be maximally short and completely contained within the outer lips. From the outside, only the so-called ‘Venus line’, a thin, straight, sexy line, is targeted.
Such vaginal plastic surgeries include labiaplasty, clitoral hudoplasty and labia majora fat filling or hyaluronic acid filling procedures. The aim is to provide a structure where a single thin line is visible in the middle.
What if we want a natural vagina look?
Today, while aesthetic operations are increasing, the effort to search for nature continues rapidly. Those who want to have a more natural, cleaner and flatter appearance are not at all rare. In the face of these requests, a ‘natural vagina appearance’ can also be achieved without shortening the inner lips too much. This appearance is also known as a ‘hybrid vagina’. In these operations, a small amount of tissue is removed from the inner lips and the natural appearance is preserved.
What Changes After Laparoplasty?
There are many positive changes in a person’s life after labiaplasty. It has medical, hygienic and functional benefits when applied with the right technique. The satisfaction rate of patients is very high both in daily life and in sexual life.
What is the Trick of a Laparoplasty Operation?
The key point of the labiaplasty operation is the simultaneous ‘clitoral hudoplasty’ surgery. It is the removal of excess tissue on the clitoris. If this tissue is not removed properly, a ‘penis appearance’ is formed in the middle. For this reason, the area above the clitoris should also be thinned in most operations.
Is There a Risk of Lapoplasty?
Of course, as with any surgery, labiaplasty has its risks. However, these risks are minimized when performed by experienced doctors under appropriate conditions.
Undesirable conditions after labiaplasty are loss of symmetry, scallopping of the outer edges like ‘sawtooth’, infection, distribution of urine in different directions during urination due to excess tissue removal, pain during sexual intercourse, vaginal dryness.
If the clitoris skin is removed too much or hung too high after clitoral hudoplasty, the head of the clitoris may be irritated by friction. Scar tissue formation and loss of sensation are among the other complications that can be seen.
It should not be forgotten that when labiaplasty is planned individually and performed with the right technique and equipment, no loss of sensation occurs. On the contrary, there is an increase in sexual pleasure due to increased self-confidence and the effect of getting rid of anatomical excesses. The stitches usually heal naturally without any scarring.
What Happens After Labiaplasty?
Mild bleeding, pain, burning, stinging and edema for a few days after labiaplasty are expected findings. Regular dressing and attention to hygiene rules in the first week will lead to a rapid recovery. After 3 days of rest, you can return to daily life. For the first 1 month, sexual life, heavy sports, yoga, pilates, pool, hammam, SPA, sea and massage are prohibited. The stitches will dissolve spontaneously within 3-4 weeks and there will be no need for stitches.
Each patient should be told before surgery that a period of 2 months should be waited to achieve the targeted appearance after labiaplasty. Due to the nature of the region, the payment will only be solved.
Who Can Have Labiaplasty Surgery?
Anyone can have labiaplasty surgery. The physical and mental problems caused by this condition are more important than the degree of sagging, asymmetry and irregularity in the labia. While it is generally recommended to finish surgery at the age of 18, young girls with advanced disease can also undergo surgery with family approval and support.
How much are the prices for lipoplasty?
Labiaplasty prices can be determined after patient examination. The price varies according to where the surgery will be performed, the type of anesthesia to be applied and the presence of other procedures to be performed together.
